Yesterday was better than I could have hoped or imagined. As usual most decorations were re-used or last minute made, making an extra colorful explosion of party decor. The kids had a blast and I think all the grown ups did too πŸ™‚ Per request, we had a bounce house, lots of little friends, butterflies here and there, and a “black cookie cake” (an oreo cake…. it was umm, rustic looking? but amazingly delicious. Thank you Alex for that)! It was hot, but not unbearable outside. It was cool and bright inside. I’m not sure what else to write…. it was really just an awesome day. I feel so happy for this little girl. Life has been good to us lately (really good) and I couldn’t be happier about it all. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and making the day extra special πŸ™‚
SO MANY PICTURES πŸ™‚

but it was delicious…. haha.

six kids later, the dog broke the piΓ±ata.

amazing butterfly cloth napkins via dot & army.
pro tip: a good way to get your child to participate in a family photo is start yelling for pizza and other random things πŸ˜‰
Happy Third Birthday, Marlowe.
I hope it was everything you dreamed of.
(I’m guessing it was, since she keeps asking for another one πŸ˜‰

  1. Wonderful photos, it looks like a fantastic party. Happy Birthday Marlowe.

  2. Now I'm thinking I should get a jumping castle for my birthday πŸ™‚ I love your top. Jerry is ridiculously cute. I wonder how I would get a family photo with 3 dogs. Swing some food over the camera and try to keep them just looking at it instead of running to it? Haha.

  3. woooow you guys totally looked like you had a blast!!! You are so creative seriously. When my daughter turns 2 I'm definitely taking some ideas here πŸ™‚

  4. Looks like a fun time for all. When my eldest son turned 3, I slaved over an "Iron Giant" cake and afterwards when I asked him how he liked it, he said he did, and when I asked him what he thought the cake looked like, he said, "A rock?" So yeah, sometimes it's the thought — and taste — that counts. πŸ™‚

  5. You throw the BEST parties! It seems like you guys had a blast. And I just want to eat marlowe up!

Any tips for a first birthday party? it's coming up in two weeks — royal theme — and yet I have no decorations or game ideas. Le sigh. I wish I was the creative type!

    • haha no tips here. I made a million decorations that all got washed away in rain! keep it easy and fun! The most important thing is having fun πŸ™‚

  9. What fantastic photos! I love that you reused "old" decorations and made them new again. My son is turning 3 in October and we're planning his party at the park. You gave me the idea to post about that special time. Thanks. Charli @ http://www.charliandsons.com

  10. Incredible day, such fun and so many great memories.
What a beautiful little Butterfly and her gorgeous family πŸ™‚
I may steal a couple of your ideas for our upcoming party this Saturday in a way too small flat to accommodate all that we'd like to do but hey, happy moods and laughter is all that matters.
Happy third year, Miss Marlowe xxxx
