Hello! How are you guys? Hungry? Do you happen to be looking for a new and delicious smoothie bowl recipe? Maybe a green smoothie bowl? Maybe a tropical one? Maybe a super delicious and healthy recipe?!? Well, I hope so! Because today I’m sharing one of my favorite smoothie bowl recipes, inspired by my travels in the Caribbean with Carnival Cruise Line. I eat this one on days where I want to add a bit more green stuff to my gut, but I have no desire to wake up and eat a salad for breakfast, you know? I often opt for my favorite green smoothie recipe as well– but don’t be fooled, my smoothie recipe + smoothie bowl recipe is totally different. This bowl is a magic bowl of tropical goodness.

The base of the bowl is simple. 3-4 things and you’re good. I’m including a few add-ins to the recipe as well, that you can add in to your liking. I add them in depending on my mood. We obviously find all sorts of tropical goodness here, closer to the equator line, but I wanted to create a recipe that could be pretty user friendly for everyone across the globe. Because while we’d all like to be cruising all around the Caribbean in search of magical delicious goodness, we all can’t be. So here we are, a tropical bowl for everyone. Because, let’s be real, at this point you can find bananas and pineapple basically everywhere. But what you do with those two ingredients is what makes it magical. 😉 Ready for some magic?

Tropical Living Inspired – My Favorite Healthy Green Smoothie Bowl Recipe
(makes two large bowls or three small ones)

For the bowl (blending) you’ll need:

  • 3 cups cubed frozen pineapple
  • 2 cups sliced frozen (and very ripe) banana
  • 1 ripe banana for blending
  • 3 cups fresh greens (spinach or some sort of spring mix is preferred. kale is great, but I could only recommend it if you have a powerful high speed blender)
  • 1-3 teaspoons of powdered spirulina (to taste– this is optional, but I love it! And it makes the color super fun!)
  • optional: 1/2 medium cucumber, peeled and sliced
  • optional: 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger (gives it an interesting kick!)

For toppings you’ll need:

(these are all suggestions of course– choose what you’d like!)

  • sliced bananas
  • sliced kiwi
  • sliced strawberries
  • granola
  • shredded coconut
  • passionfruit (mmmm hard to find, but so delicious!)
  • whatever else you want! more fresh pineapple is always good too!

How to:

-Simply blend all the bowl/blending ingredients together in a high speed blender. You might need to add a bit of liquid to get the blender started, but play with it a bit first. If you add too much liquid you’ll end up with soup, not a thick and creamy bowl. Add small amounts of water (or coconut water) if needed. Blend until smooth and creamy.

-Add your delicious toppings

-Take a spoon to the bowl, close your eyes, place in mouth, and pretend you are laying under a hammock in the sunshine in the tropics. 🙂

-And Enjoy!

Voila, a super easy and delicious green bowl. This honestly tastes like a dessert, but with all those greens and fresh fruit, it’s really good for you! Indulge and enjoy!
