Well guys, I think you guys know by now, I’m the queen of last minute party throwing. Pretty much any party, except my sparkle party, I put together at the last minute. I put together my house-warming party in two days, Marlowe’s 2nd birthday in one, and now, well it’s fourth of july time and I’m excited and (getting) ready to throw a poolside red, white, and blue bash for a few of my friends 🙂 Here are a few DIY and party hacks I’ve put together over the past two days 🙂
Cupcake liners! The possibilities are endless. Have some lying around your house? Decorate them patriotically and use them for cute drink covers to keep pesky bugs out or as the easiest quick garland decoration in the world!
Pst. Don’t forget: painters tape? Typically blue and typically found laying in your shed or garage somewhere. Another great and easy way to add pops of color to your party!
Ice is one of the easiest and cutest ways to add a touch of charm or fun to any party. Puree fruit with a touch of water for bold colored cubes. Flavored coconut water? BRILLIANT flavored ice alternative. The best drink party hack: make decorative ice out of your drink mixer. It’s a win win win. Keeps drink cold, looks beautiful, and as your ice melts, it flavors your drink even more. You can even layer the different flavors. Freeze a bit, add more, freeze again, add more. You’ve got yourself some red, white, and blue striped ice to add to a splash of vodka. Don’t want to mess with making ice? Use frozen fruit in your drinks for a touch of color, flavor, and coolness.
Most everybody has bbq skewers piled up somewhere, whether they have a grill or not. Cut out some paper shapes, stick on some stickers, and tada it’s a party hack bogo: drink-marker/drink stirrer magic. Don’t forget to add fruits, especially cut star shaped apples (or better yet, carambolas if you can find them!) and other red, white, and blue goodies.
Tie dye is apparently the easiest thing on the world. You can pick up two colors (red and blue) at most any local craft stores for cheap-cheap. Take an old bed sheet and about 8 hours (15 minutes of actual working time) and 5$ later you’ve got yourself a kickass tablecloth or party backdrop– no instructions needed! Dye, elastics, and go crazy. Take any extra dye and work your magic on dirty old kitchen rags! Voila brand new party napkins or decor placemats!
Don’t be scared to get creative with drink mixers and punch! Flavored drinks, coconut waters, flavored smirnoff ice, mix it all together until it tastes just right.
Fourth of july decorations can be super easy. Just roam your house for ANYTHING red, white, and blue. From t-shirts, bandanas, balls of yarn, pitchers, toilet paper (why not, right?), stick it all together and you’ve got a mishmash of party ready decorations.

Thanks for the inspiration, lady! We host a party on the 4th every year and I was just contemplating how I'd entertain my Marlowe today while also be productive with party prep–tie dye sheets are calling our names!

It's been a wonderful adventure you've taken us this week – from Mexico to your beautiful beach and back to your cozy home. We had waffles (well, Alex did) and now we're gathering for party.
