So…. I’m sick… AGAIN. Two days after recovering from a stomach flu/ food poisoning/ whatever. But this time I’m not alone: Marlowe has been overrun by boogers as well. Fortunately neither one of us has a fever or anything too awful, but it is still a cold nonetheless. Part of me is pretty annoyed with the whole thing. I don’t get sick very often and I really thought Marlowe wouldn’t come down with anything.. ever.. I mean, come on! Don’t I have wonder milk here? Isn’t she supposed to never get sick? I was hoping so. I know I really shouldn’t complain, she doesn’t have a fever or anything and she hardly seems like she is in pain, but I still want her in tip top healthiest form. I think her sickness is bothering me more than it is bothering her. Me and the little blue suck bottle have been having a party trying to suction all the snot out of her face. We were doing pretty good all weekend, but today the snot isn’t going anywhere. It’s pretty stuck up there. So Marlowe is sitting up in her chair unknowingly next to a new humidifier so Mama can try and loosen up her junk. She seems pretty content right now trying to eat her cozy winter outfit and yelling at Charles the Zebra. She’s been sleeping like crazy and I’ve been trying to feed her like crazy. Sleep and eat those germ away! GO GO GO! All the while I am having a used tissue party building up over here that would scare any environmentalist while sporting a sick snot face that would scare any religion-spreading-pamphlet-handing out guest that tries to enter my home. (I’m not knocking religion.. we just have a lot of crazies around here). At least I have no one knocking at my door and the tissues are 100% (really rough) recycled toilet paper? Sure… Anyway Marlowe looks at me really confused with every violent sneeze I have, but smiles and squirms every time I blow my nose. Every large snuffy inhale of snot she has I try to tell her I understand her pain and I’m on her sick boat, but I don’t think she gets it.

I feel like a lump of crap. There is a large list of things I need to accomplish and I’ve done nothing. Well, not nothing, but I’ve only done one thing on that whole large productivity list. I really need to make a Whole Foods run. My soap is low, my detergent is low, and worst of all the only thing in my vegetable basket is garlic (don’t worry, I still have veggies in my fridge, just nothing in my basket!). I need to sign up for classes for school. I need to get a phone. It’s been a week and a half with no phone. What am I doing? I still need to buy and make Christmas gifts for people. I’m sure there are a million other things I need to get done, but this whole mommy-brain thing on top of being sick leaves me feeling very dull and two steps behind everything and anything that could possibly be going on around me… besides boogers of course.

Things I did accomplish this weekend: going to Pizzeria again. Wow. (Sarcasm). I should just have a whole separate blog for my Pizzeria posts, its getting a bit ridiculous. (Deliciously ridiculous). This weeks (second) Pizzeria outing consisted of Eric, Marlowe, Sara and her kids (they all came down from Atlanta for the weekend) and Heidi. Did I mention Marlowe was fussy? Cause she was… but only because we would both go to bed and wake up with the aforementioned boogers.

Saturday Marlowe and I did not get out of bed. Another weekend day stuck in bed. LAME. We did however manage to get up and get dressed to stop by Erics parents Christmas party. It was a bit overwhelming to walk in there and have everyone meeting Marlowe. Everyone was incredibly nice of course, I’m just awful in most social situations. I’m quiet, I can’t help it– and I was sick. Marlowe received some awesome gifts. And two more hats this weekend. And then luckily slept the rest of the night to battle her boogers. (Side note: she is smiling in her sleep right now). Heidi made a ridiculous amount of desserts. Everyone could have left with at least 100 cookies and there would have been more to spare. I left with the biggest tray of vegan chocolate covered pretzels and fudge.

Sunday we stopped by Mark and Nicole’s house and enjoyed some sunshine before the cold weather returned. Sunday was also Christmas present day. We worked on everyones surprise presents. I can’t say more.

I’m kind of annoyed I didn’t get to spend more time with Sara and her kiddos. I know we will be heading up to Atlanta very soon to see them, but its annoying that I’m sick the weekend they came down. I am determined Marlowe and I will wake up feeling better tomorrow. We will we will we will.

  5. hi! <3 i am a brand new reader & i just want to say that both you & your daughter are gorgeous. (found you on top baby blogs.) i just had a baby girl on dec. 6th & have been reading for about a week… anyway, a long time ago i coined the term "ridiculicious" and i think it really applies to this post! hehe. expect more comments from me in the future. xoxo lisa.

  6. i hope the 2 of you get better soon. i think it's the drastic change of weather. hot, cold, hot, cold.
i love your i spy with my little eye…always fun!

  7. You can't seem to catch a break! Being sick when you have a baby is the worst! Especially with no one around to help. Hang in there Mama!

P.S I totally feel robbed everytime my little guy gets sick too. I mean, isnt this breastfeeding supposed to make them like super babies?! Immune to all?! Basically equivalent to sticking them in a sterile bubble? Apparently not.

  8. Awww, sorry your both sick! Just keep thinking, tho, that Marlowe's cold is probably a lot less severe than it could be if she weren't a breastfed babe!

  9. We're also fighting colds at our house. I'm not sure if you've already tried it or not but the infant nasal saline drops do a great job of breaking up the boogers making the aspirator much more effective.
