The food may not have been as thought out or planned as the other days, we didn’t even bother to set the table, and Marlowe actually ate waffles and yogurt before we even sat down, but regardless, it was such a nice morning together, one of our better brunchdays. Tickle fights are often how we start our mornings. Girls against boys and the girls always win. Marlowe, the photographer, took about 80 pictures of Alex and I. Most of our feet, of course. Artwork, curtains, and plants are moving around this place. I took a note from Claudia, and lightened up the bedroom with more white curtains. Luckily, the old bedroom curtains (at least 7 years old!), look fantastic in the dining room. Marlowe has been slowly getting a big girl re-do (pictures soon). The old sparkle party decorations look wonderful floating above her bed. Before adding more details, we all ate our (different) meals, we let the mess sit a bit longer than any of us is usually comfortable with, and we played. I wish all our days could start like this.
on the menu:
for him, scrambled eggs, avocado, hot sauce on toast.
for me, cream cheese, cucumber, black radish, avocado, cilantro on toast.
for her, bananas, grapes, and cream cheese on toast.
oh, and yes, we’re STILL drinking mimosas πŸ˜‰
Happy weekend, everyone πŸ™‚

  1. I guess I haven't checked your blog in a while, but are you and alex back together? If so, was there a post about that?

  2. Even though I don't "know" you, as in I've never met you, I can only go by what you post on here. BUT it makes my heart so happy to see your darling girl reading a book with her daddy. I am so glad for the three of you and wish you all nothing but joy =)

  3. i love your brunch posts. i would love to just spend the day with you (or a week!) and eat! i would never ever think that the things you put on toast would be good until i see your photos here, and oh my word. it all looks so amazing every time. YUMMO! and lovelovelove marlowe's photography, btw πŸ˜‰

  5. These pictures make my heart swell! You look like you're in such a lovely place right now (both in life and in that absolutely fabulous space you call home!). I love the picture of you and Alex, the contrast between hairy legs and smooth legs–so romantic! Is that odd to say?

  6. Beautiful curtains! Also you are making me want to do the cloth napkins thing.I just have one problem — my cats throw up a fair amount, and how the eff would I clean it up (it's huge and gross) without paper towels?! I know you have Jerry, and he must make a mess sometimes, right? How do you deal with that?

    • I buy one to two paper towel rolls a year. Dogs don't really throw up a whole lot…. but we def. have our dirty dirty rags for big messes, cleaning counters and stoves, pee pee spills, and whatever else.

  7. The picture of Alex and M melts my heart. I love how light and white your home is. One day I'll see it πŸ˜‰

  8. Gorgeous photos…You are all so lucky!

    {ps. Have you seen the series Heros…It looks like Sylar is reading to Marlowe! He was my favourite character.. ;)}

    • We laugh about this often. It's not so common anymore, but when the show was on… holy cow all we heard about was sylar πŸ™‚

  9. Beautiful photos! Your daughter is going to be hogging the camera soon. haha. Btw the food looks good and healthy! πŸ™‚

  10. I love so many things about your blog, and this post pretty much sums it up – good food, lots of love, a sharp eye (even Marlowe's!), and beautiful surroundings.

  11. lol the first thing i noticed were the white curtains! looking good. what a difference right? happy to see M is making good use of Lily's jammies. happy weekend to you all. xo

  12. The idea of Marlowe taking that photo of her two parents sitting together so sweetly made me happy, and maybe a little verklempt, too. xo

  13. Slow mornings that evolve naturally (and involve avocado on toast!!)are. the. best. Your home is always so sunny… must be a perk of Florida living. Plus, it's heart-warming to see your family together. πŸ™‚
