‘Marlowe’s playtent on steroids’ might be a good name for this post. (okay, no, that would be an awful name, BUT) how awesome is this fort?! It’s pretty amazing, I know. It’s still up. 40+ hours later, because why not? Our outdoor seasons in Florida are a bit backwards. Our ‘winter blues’ seem more like ‘summer blahs’—- not wonderful summers, perfect winters. Its really hot out here, unbearable at best. And we do what we know how to do, make the best of it, mostly indoors—- crafting, painting, cooking, &SO MUCH book reading. This was perfect. Big enough for a family of eight or so, leaving the three of us (&jerry) more than enough space to play or lay comfortably inside, watching movies. Marlowe’s playtent was our doorway, the back of our loveseat turned backwards was our wall, and the highchair, vacuum, and our ottomans were our support. I guess having loads of vintage sheets/tablecloths and having the most perfectionist family pays, cause this tent, it’s big and holding strong. And well, I don’t mind—– I may or may not have spent a few extra hours in it after Marlowe went to bed. (It was awesome)

  1. I used to play fort a lot when I was a little kid. I would use the table and cover it up with blankets or any kind of sheets and hide under the table. It was fun! I still do enjoy playing fort with my kids though. 🙂 This is so lovely.

  2. Oh, what a lovely fort! You've totally inspired me to give new life to all the vintage table cloths I have lying around. My 6yo would love a fort like this. I doubt we'd make something as structurally awesome as this, but we could make a low-rent version… 🙂

  3. Wonderful photos Drea, it looks such fun in the fort. We really must build one here I think.

  4. How fun!! We have a fort that has been up for weeks too and we love it. I tend to hang with the kids there to read and chat. 2 of my kids slept there the other night.

Enjoy it and the memory making with your daughter.

  5. FUN!!!!!!!!!! What's a childhood without a good sheet tent now and then?? Love that you enjoyed it too – because it looks too cozy not to!

  6. i may or may not put forts up when the mood strikes…even though I have no children… This looks like a super one – lots of colour and patterns make for a good fort in my eyes!!

  7. I love forts. This one is particularly outstanding. I'm looking forward to the days of forts with my little girl.

  8. My kids LOVE forts and once I showed them how to build them themselves they are constantly moving furniture about to create newer, better, and bigger forts each weekend. Keep it up, life is more fun in a fort!

  10. What a great idea to make being in the house so much more of an adventure. I want to build a fort just for myself:)

  11. That's awesome. I don't remember ever building a fort, but that might just be my bad memory. But I want to build one now either way 🙂

  12. That is awesome, love all the sheets you used! The last time we made a fort it didn't last 5 minutes. I guess it's a boy thing, haha. I don't blame you sitting in it after Marlowe went to sleep, I'm sure it's like a little escape! 🙂

  13. Forts are THE best. I think I enjoy ours as much as my daughter does, but they never last, not because of our abilities in building them so much as we always have a cat (or four) think they should walk the roof. We need a lazy Jerry to play inside and not on top. 🙂
