I’m always pretty head over heels for Alex, but this week? I’m especially enamored with this man. Our backyard is really becoming the place I (and we) have dreamed of for so long. Slowly slowly, step by step (day by day), it’s becoming our beautiful outdoor escape. I’m looking to future evenings when we choose to buy a bottle of wine and be outside, under the stars, in the haven that is sits outside our home.
I feel like we haven’t seen much of Alex, but with good reason. The holidays were busy for us, with his restaurant life and we had a bit of a (huge) mold problem that developed from our broken washing machine… we tore up the back of the house (our storage room of sorts), turned the inside our house upside down, cleaned up, cleaned out, and worked worked worked outside, upgraded Marlowe from a crib to a big girl bed (with the proper adjustments of her current room layout), all while I’ve been working on a few exciting projects of mine own… it’s been a go go go, head down, work through, cuddle sometimes and in between kind of few weeks. But the payoff has been worth it. If you want something, you have to make it happen, right? I’m so impressed and in love with all Alex has done around here and I’m also happy with what I’ve accomplished too.
And the mold inside? It can screw itself. I remember a year or two ago seeing on someone’s IG feed that they had a mold problem and were devastated. And my reaction was (a genuine) “it’s okay, it’s just material things, at least you guys are good and healthy!” The response in return? Not a happy one. I get it, we all get personal about our own crap…. and feelings of disappointment… are disappointing! but now, after having an almost identical problem of our own (call it fate or whatever!), more than ever, I stand by my thought: It could be worse. An inconvenience for sure, and we had to say goodbye to personal things, but we got to purge, escape more material possessions without debate (good!), and move forward. So either screw yourself mold…. or thank you for kicking our butts into gear to work harder on the inside to create a better (and more clean! and more lucid!) space.
