How are you guys doing?! It’s been hard for me to get on the computer while I’ve been away. I’ve gotten so used to siting at my desk, that the laptop is a weird alien to me πŸ˜‰ The good news is, the weather is so beautiful here (in San Jose), I do have the option of getting on the computer outside! It’s pretty chilly in San Francisco— but we knew it would be πŸ˜‰ Miss Marlowe even opted to not go to Golden Gate Park because she was nervous of how windy it would be πŸ™‚ We ran out of time anyway, so we were cool with it.

Nicolle and I have been really good at not planning things and letting things happen. For me, during travel, I’m either super planning type and I have all the stops I want to make laid out or I’m super laid back and lets see what happens. I’ve been super *lets see what happens* during this trip… and luckily it’s worked out pretty well! There are some moments where I wish I had planned the food stops better— but then thats you’re biggest complaint, life is pretty good πŸ™‚

We decided to head into SF on saturday, as to try to avoid all the chaos of the Pride Parade on Sunday. We originally planned to maybe check out the botanical gardens– but then we saw the Japanese Tea Gardens and thought “well that might be fun too!” so we headed in there instead πŸ™‚

These stepping stones make me think of Colombia. I have this vague memory of me jumping on some and falling in the water when I was three or four. But I dont know if it actually happened. I could have made it up.

tiny excited Marlowe.

After the gardens we headed downtown for lunch. I have no pictures of lunch, cause you guys dont need to see greasy fried stuff and noodles with mock meat (bleh, one of those moments I wish I had planned food better).

We then stumbled into pride fest. Without knowing it, right around the corner from our lunch spot, was a giant pride festival! We weren’t planning on going, but with it being RIGHT there we were like, crap, might as well! We bought leis, played some games, took in the sites, you know, the usual.

painted our nails too.

peace!
also, I should mention, I’m stealing a lot of these photos from Nicolle. She’s the best. So great to walk around with someone else with a camera πŸ™‚

After pride we spent about an hour in the car trying to navigate through the pride festivals (multiple festivals through the city) traffic. We had planned to go to Bi-Rite, but there was a HUGE festival in Dolores park. So we headed to a gelato place that someone on instagram mentioned. THANK YOU INTERNET! Winy, windy.

Miss Marlowe, a very happy girl with her mexican chocolate ice-cream. I promised her loads of ice-cream on this trip– since I ate loads of ice cream on my LA trip πŸ™‚ Also, you see that *I love vegan sausage* sticker? I wanted to get into a fight with the booth about it. They almost didn’t want to give us the stickers because we wouldn’t agree that vegan sausage is great. I was like, “no we dont eat mock meat, sorry, but we’re vegan, we’ll take a sticker” and they were legit upset, like “why?! vegan sausage is so good, I ate it for breakfast with my tofu scramble!” and I was like, “no, we just dont”— I wanted to rant abut how mock meat is actually not any better for your body and not that much better for the earth— if better at all. But I just bit my tongue, and said, we prefer not to eat it, agree to disagree. And yes, I totally get the innuendo, we weren’t too concerned with that either. And yes, I’m ranting about how unhealthy vegan sausage is under a picture of my kid eating coconut milk ice-cream probably loaded with sugar), but everything in moderation right? It mostly just bugged me how they responded, not the vegan sausage itself πŸ˜‰ < / end rant >

After the ice-cream we were heading home, but realized we were close to the 16th avenue tile steps, so we thought, “well, duh lets stop.”  They were super pretty. Better than my mosaic steps πŸ˜‰

And the view from the top was pretty rad too.

Afterward we left the setting sun to head back south to the warmer climates of san jose πŸ™‚ It was an easy, chilly, (and super fast) carefree day.

It’s been a good trip so far. I’m pooped though! It’s 8:30 pm here and 11:30 back home and I am ready for bed! I found it funny that I went to bed before Alex last night even though I’m three hours behind πŸ™‚ Staying busy and wearing myself out πŸ™‚ Looking forward to getting home and cuddling in bed with mr. Alex and doing a bit of nothing πŸ™‚

I hope you guys are having a great week!
