How are you guys? I’m still over here working through my tough week. But my mood is somewhat better. Maybe. I can’t tell. Honestly, I just keep reminding myself how good we have it. Reminding myself that I need to step forward

Sometimes it’s hard to keep things in perspective– it’s super easy to get carried away with our own problems and own lives, you know? I try to catch myself every time I get overwhelmed and frustrated and remind myself that at least we have options and possibilities. And we’re lucky to have that.

You guys know this, but one of the reasons why I wanted to come here to Guatemala is to get myself settled and spend all the extra time we have doing some good, volunteering, helping out, and making someone else life better in some way or another.

Famous Footwear reached out to me a few months ago about partnering together. And I said that I would love to– but through in a curve ball. I pitched to them the idea of them donating a bunch of shoes for us to be able to give to Guatemalans in need. Not only did they say yes, but they loved the idea and immediately asked what style/sizes they should send.

Alex and I feel lucky to be in the position that we’re in– to be able to support ourselves on this blog and now extra income via our home rental. And you guys are every part of that. We don’t take that for granted for a second. Not only are you guys part of this– but the companies I get to partner with. We’re so so so grateful for companies like Famous Footwear who also want to inspire others to do good too.

It’s November now. Crazy, I know. And everyone is about to get full swing into the holidays. You can’t fight it— if you left your house today you probably walked into at least one place setting up for Christmas. Even here in Antigua, where it’s actually “all saints day” November 1st– there was still a light up snowman and Santa being set up in our neighborhood. The holidays are here.

But that doesn’t mean you have to start getting all wrapped up in buying buying buying more more more. We all have the opportunity to make this a world we want to live in— so maybe this year you guys can throw (SOME) old traditions out the window and start some new ones— some good and kind and giving ones. You know?

Maybe instead of piling gifts underneath your tree you can collect things that people actually need and give them out– give, share, love.
I’m all about change and growth. You guys know this. And you can start making a difference or making changes any and everyday. Start small then go big– or just go all out right now– JUST STEP FORWARD into making someone else life a little better <3<3

Thank you than you thank you Famous Footwear for donating SO many shoes to people who need it. You can be assured that shoes are in good hands— well, on good feet of people who truly appreciate it <3<3<3

*Thank you to Famous Footwear for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.

  1. This was a sweet video! (I mean it like ‘aww’ sweet, but I guess it could also be ‘cool’ sweet too) I feel like we just got to know you better. Also, thought-provoking…. it is so easy to get caught up in “me me me” but especially with the holidays coming up, we gotta keep this giving feeling in mind, big time.
