    • we closed the door and said goodbye to this place this week. an ended chapter, but we’re looking forward to the opportunities that downsizing our home will bring. it was a sad, broken, hardly livable space when marlowe and i moved in. and now its a beautiful home... for someone else. and that’s okay. we’re not done growing. and we have big plans and dreams for now and the future too. thanks for the safe place to grow, ohdearcasa. the most common question received over the last month has been, “is it hard letting it all go?” — link in profile :) #keepgrowing
    • so i want to talk about the other side— yesterday in my stories i talked about the effects of meat consumption on the amazon and the planet— but what about the other side? the reality is that food politics go much deeper — far deeper than any insta post or comments can handle. that every food choice you make directly affects something else. not even my (store-bought) bananas are clean from crime. whether it’s fast food targeted advertising in low income neighborhoods, food trends that create a market where the farmer can’t even afford to buy their own food, indigenous stolen land to grow fruit (sorry bananas + coffee), soy + palm oil also contributing to deforestation. pesticides poisoning migrant farmers stuck in a slave system. “rented” indigenous land to monocrop the hell of a certain type of produce— only to give back the land to the original people in a rotting and toxic state. legume farmer suicides in india — and more. IT’S DEEP. all food choices have some sort of effect + consequence. want to improve the system? learn more and take action. want safe and guilt-free food? grow it or buy it directly from a farmer you trust. it’s the only way. all food products and issues are tainted at this point. feel overwhelmed? (welcome to my daily head). the best thing you can do is educate yourself to the issues and make the most informed decisions you can. but the reality is that non of this changes the fact that 1. meat consumption is the number one cause of greenhouse gas in the world. 2. its the number one cause of deforestation in the rainforest 3. that it steals lands from indigenous people 4. that it exploits migrants in factory farming situations (have you guys forgotten this months large ICE raid already?!) 5. that the single quickest thing we can do as a species to reverse the climate crisis is to give up eating meat. AND MORE. i already said it, but at this point not changing your diet is as useful as thoughts and prayers. educate yourself then choose the world you want to live in 🌎🌎🌎 #ohdeardreagarden #ohdearfruitlove

    • if you watch my stories then you know that without fail, every time i go to the store AT LEAST one person will comment on the amount of produce i have in my cart. on one hand i enjoy that people take notice of how much fresh food we have. on the other i’m wondering why the amount of produce i buy stands out. with lifestyle based illnesses rising across the globe and — why is it not a normal or common thing for people to fill their carts with real food? i’d LOVE to hear your opinion — what do you think stands in the way most of buying fresh produce? why do you think processed foods is such the norm? what’s the biggest blockage to a switch back to real fresh food? cost? commitment to using it? government brainwashing? prep time? fear of waste? habits and conditioning? 80s tv commercials? addiction? taste? indifference? can we discuss??? 🍇🍓🍋🥥🥦🌶🥬#ohdearfruitlove #ohdearcasita #fruitarian

  • we closed the door and said goodbye to this place this week. an ended chapter, but we’re looking forward to the opportunities that downsizing our home will bring. it was a sad, broken, hardly livable space when marlowe and i moved in. and now its a beautiful home... for someone else. and that’s okay. we’re not done growing. and we have big plans and dreams for now and the future too. thanks for the safe place to grow, ohdearcasa. the most common question received over the last month has been, “is it hard letting it all go?” — link in profile :) #keepgrowing
  • so i want to talk about the other side— yesterday in my stories i talked about the effects of meat consumption on the amazon and the planet— but what about the other side? the reality is that food politics go much deeper — far deeper than any insta post or comments can handle. that every food choice you make directly affects something else. not even my (store-bought) bananas are clean from crime. whether it’s fast food targeted advertising in low income neighborhoods, food trends that create a market where the farmer can’t even afford to buy their own food, indigenous stolen land to grow fruit (sorry bananas + coffee), soy + palm oil also contributing to deforestation. pesticides poisoning migrant farmers stuck in a slave system. “rented” indigenous land to monocrop the hell of a certain type of produce— only to give back the land to the original people in a rotting and toxic state. legume farmer suicides in india — and more. IT’S DEEP. all food choices have some sort of effect + consequence. want to improve the system? learn more and take action. want safe and guilt-free food? grow it or buy it directly from a farmer you trust. it’s the only way. all food products and issues are tainted at this point. feel overwhelmed? (welcome to my daily head). the best thing you can do is educate yourself to the issues and make the most informed decisions you can. but the reality is that non of this changes the fact that 1. meat consumption is the number one cause of greenhouse gas in the world. 2. its the number one cause of deforestation in the rainforest 3. that it steals lands from indigenous people 4. that it exploits migrants in factory farming situations (have you guys forgotten this months large ICE raid already?!) 5. that the single quickest thing we can do as a species to reverse the climate crisis is to give up eating meat. AND MORE. i already said it, but at this point not changing your diet is as useful as thoughts and prayers. educate yourself then choose the world you want to live in 🌎🌎🌎 #ohdeardreagarden #ohdearfruitlove

  • if you watch my stories then you know that without fail, every time i go to the store AT LEAST one person will comment on the amount of produce i have in my cart. on one hand i enjoy that people take notice of how much fresh food we have. on the other i’m wondering why the amount of produce i buy stands out. with lifestyle based illnesses rising across the globe and — why is it not a normal or common thing for people to fill their carts with real food? i’d LOVE to hear your opinion — what do you think stands in the way most of buying fresh produce? why do you think processed foods is such the norm? what’s the biggest blockage to a switch back to real fresh food? cost? commitment to using it? government brainwashing? prep time? fear of waste? habits and conditioning? 80s tv commercials? addiction? taste? indifference? can we discuss??? 🍇🍓🍋🥥🥦🌶🥬#ohdearfruitlove #ohdearcasita #fruitarian
