Hello friends! How are you?! I really hope you’re well in the world. How am I? Well, to be honest… I have no idea! I think I’m good, haha. I’m definitely not bad, so that must mean that I’m good, right?! I think so πŸ™‚ I’m just running around, being myself I guess. Full of plans, ideas, creative projects, research– you know, the things I do best πŸ˜‰ And miss Marlowe has been busy quietly playing and reading, reading, reading. We’re literally at the library all week long. Her book list filled novels and graphic novels are endless— but I wanted to share with you a list of some of the really amazingly beautiful and (what I think) are important books we own.

If you have curious, earth-conscious, and/or globally aware kids– well, this might be the perfect little list of books for you. And hell, even if you don’t have kids this is a great list! Because I have to admit that I would have happily read all these kids books as an adult, even if I didn’t have a child in my life πŸ˜‰ I’m sure you’ll love any and every one of these books.

A List Of Beautiful Books For Growing, Curious, Earth + Globally-Mindful Kids

The Wondrous Workings of Planet Earth: Understanding Our World and Its Ecosystems – We actually just discovered this book at our local library this week. And oh gosh, this book is so beautiful. And smart. And informational. And did I say beautiful? It’s a great book for both kids and adults to learn about how animals (you know, humans too) work with the planet. It touches on things like global warming, ocean pollutions, It’s a great thing to teach to kids and a great reminder for adults who might be a bit disconnected from the bigger picture πŸ˜‰

Unusual Creatures: A Mostly Accurate Account of Some of Earth’s Strangest Animals – Marlowe has had this book since she was about 1 year old. Yes, when she was much too young to even comprehend the idea of unusual creatures. At that point maybe all creatures were strange and unusual? Either way, it’s such a fun book, we’ve definitely kept it around this whole time. I’m a BIG animal person, I’ve been reading animal books since I could read– and I was impressed to find some new animal facts in this book that I hadn’t known. It’s a fun for kiddos to learn weird and interesting facts about animals in this world.

Anatomy: A Cutaway Look Inside the Human Body – This book is so incredibly amazing that I brought it all the way back from London– I legit could spend all day in a London bookstore– the books there are SO amazing. Especially this one– obviously, it was a big space taker in the luggage– but so worth it. It gives kids (and adults) a cool view into the human body systems. Honestly, it’s just as much a piece of art as it is useful.

Big Ideas, For Curious Minds – I sound like a broken record telling you that I’m obsessed with each of these books, but I really am. Big Ideas For Curious Minds is a great introduction to philosophy and philosophers ideas. From Buddha to Nietzsche, to Aristotle and more. It also asks questions about emotions and people. And asks the kids to ask questions themselves. It’s my dream book for a mindful kid.

Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry – I was never super into physics as a kid/teen. Β So when I saw this book I was like, “YES. Let’s shove this info into her brain NOW.” Marlowe thinks the book is so fun, which is great. And we’re putting astrophysics knowledge into her brain too. So it’s a win/win.

Under Water, Under Earth – Β Such a cool book. The authors were also the creator of the Maps book– which I feel like I must have definitely shared at some point? Another amazing book– but sadly we parted with Maps at our estate sale. Anyway, Maps is awesome, but I love Under Water, Under Earth even more. I’ve suggested this book to so many parents I know πŸ™‚ On one side you have a world of knowledge on all things underwater– from sea animals to submarines, to cenotes, and more. On the other side of the book all information about things under our Earth. From root vegetable to spelunking, to mines, to digging animals, and more. So much info in a way that kids can take in and learn from.

Politics For Beginners – Last but not least, a book about politics. A pretty self-explanatory title– and a really awesome book that I think every kid should read this book. A great intro to understanding the main of the ideas around politics. Get it for a kid now so they can change the future later, k? Cool.

Alright friends, I legit could list a million more books — but for now, I feel like this is a really good, well-rounded list of books for curious kiddos. But if you are looking for even more book recs right NOW– you can always check out my “currently reading” section on this ole’ blog here πŸ™‚

Oh! And of course, if you have other suggestions of books that we might love or other readers might love, please share! Thank you!! Cheers πŸ˜‰

  1. Thank you for sharing this list Ms Drea. I have a little curious eight year old, and I cannot wait to experience some
of these books with him. I am a long time reader/follower of your blog/insta. I am usually shy to comment, but I am
trying to get out of my shell (I little bit at a time – haha). Anyway, thank you for always sharing with us out here in the world, I truly find you and your family inspiring. I have learned a lot throughout the years from reading your blog, and I am grateful, thank you.
