he won the well deserved 80’s prom queen title.
The past two weekends we’ve had the wonderful pleasure of being able to go out on date nights (and days). Typically when we get a chance to go out, we meet up with a lot (A LOT) of friends that we don’t typically get to see on the day to day. But on our first kiddo-free whole day, we decided to take the day to ourselves and make it a point just to enjoy the two of us. Nothing really went as planned that day. We were hours behind on getting anywhere, the pool was packed, the parking was pfffft, the restaurants we wanted to eat at were closed, and so on. But in the end it didn’t really matter because with the two of us being able to spend a whole day together, it was wonderful. We did nothing on the beach in Miami (I mean this in the best of ways). We visited the most ridiculous barber shop ever, shots included (is this normal? I didn’t know this happened. maybe in south beach). We had dinner at Gigi’s. And we returned to south beach for one of the better bars we’ve found in a long time, where we had cocktails and lounged by a warm pool on a pretty nice tree lined patio (maybe my dream patio) (I’ll def. be adding this one to the drink list).
This past memorial day weekend (maybe I should mention our weekends are sunday-monday, not saturday-sunday), we spent our sunday out by the pool of one of our friends and at the beach. Mostly grown-ups, Marlowe, and her little boyfriend. We walked over to the beach, spent some time in the sand, and walked back. We pretty much spent the whole day outside until it was Marlowe’s dinner call. I took a few photos, but all on a disposable (water-proof) camera and I left my real camera and phone inside. When we heard that a few people would try to make it out that night for a (ridiculous) 80’s prom event, we asked the grandparents if they could last minute babysit so we could join the fun. Alex and I had a quiet dinner to ourselves and a trip downtown to meet up with friends for a ridiculous night of drinks, laughing, and dancing.
These past two weekends were wonderfully packed. Miami, Disney, Pool BBQ’s, major house organizing, so many zoo trips, and always ridiculous amounts of cuddles. This next one will be spent mostly at home, but just as crazy. My mom will be flying into town, I’ll be prepping food and surprise bags for my mom and Marlowe (thank you thank you for all the great ideas!), packing, re-packing, and packing one more time for good measure, and tying up all loose ends before travel.
Besides this teeth nightmare I’m in (I’d rather give birth again then go through this second root canal, coming up in the next hour), I’m going to go ahead and say this month has been and will be my most favorite month ever. Ever.
Happy Wednesday, friends! πŸ™‚

  2. There are many thoughts spinning in my head I'd like to tell you on recent amazing post you shared. Each one tackles a wide range of human feelings from joy seeing you happy and relaxed and experiencing life with those you love the most to emotions shared on parenting and relationship as seen through pictures and your words. I wish you both all the happiness you can accommodate (and lots more!) because you deserve it.

  3. Good for you for being where you are! I can definitely say that May has been the worst month ever for me (or at least the worst I had in years). Oh, and I wish you the best for your upcoming trip.
