These are the sweetest most amazing records I have ever seen. Pretty much a 50’s version of books on tape, but with amazing pictures &for little kiddos! I am seriously so in love &cannot wait until Marlowe is old enough to read &not eat the books!

Alice In Wonderland is one of my all time favorite stories. Ever ever ever.
I didn’t really realize how awesome these were when John first handed them to me. When I opened them up to find whole illustrated stories my mouth dropped with an “oh dear!” and I was beyond pleased.
I know I’ve mentioned my local record store before, Top 5. It is amazing, and the owner is incredible. I randomly walked into his store the very first day it opened. I was with my friend Christine and her little one. That day she mentioned she would love more pregnant mama friends. Welp, what do you know, now here I am, me and my little one, walking into the record to say hello to my (now) good friend, John. Because of John, Marlowe has one of the most kick-butt record collections ever. If you haven’t followed my blog from the beginning, check out THIS record he gave us a while back: gorgeous!

A few questions I’ve been getting lately via comments &email:
My sling: Looma. It’s a Swedish ring sling, but I don’t think it is available for purchase in the U.S. It was a hand-me-down from previously mentioned, Christine. It is pretty comfortable, my main complaint is the fabric is heavy and not breathable. It’s not a warm-weather sling by any means. If you are thinking of purchasing a sling, I would aim for a woven one, they tend to be pricer, but I imagine the comfort is worth it.
My floppy hat: no idea. My mom bought it for herself. Didn’t want it anymore &it ended up in my closet. She has no idea where she bought it either.
My camera: Panasonic Lumix G1.
&A recent comment from a reader, jamjam:
“Has anyone ever told you that you look like Audrey Tautou?”:  Er, um… no. Maybe once? But I’m not sure, so Ill go with “no”. I’ve heard I look like a fair amount of different people. The one I get the most (or used to anyway &was once mistaken for) is: the Olsen twins.

Also: Portia De Rossi, Rogue from the X-men movie, & “the chick from Meet Joe Black”
Some I understand, some I dont.

  1. If Ashley and Audrey could defy the laws of science and have a baby together you would look like it. You're really pretty. I think you look more like Audrey. She's has such a charming quirky look to her.

Watch 'Priceless' if you haven't already. It's one of my favorites.

  2. I used to have so many records like that when I was little but all was lost to a flood in the basement. I will have to start looking for my little one

  3. thanks for answering my hat question! figures that it's one of those fab hand me downs. anyway, so fun reading your blog.

  4. I am in love with those record books- holy moly back to my childhood. You couldn't peel me away from my canopy bed listening and reading along with my books. I am so jealous, my mom sold all of ours when we were still little. what a shame. but how amazing for Marlowe- such a lucky little lady <3

  5. Marlowe is going to be rocking to those before you know it (1.5)!

And since you mentioned looking like Rogue, i can totally see it!

  6. those books are ah-maazing! I may be a little green with envy! I want for my baby girl!

  7. What a treasure trove! Those illustrations are gorgeous and your daughter will love them. I can't wait to start collecting a library for my Mancub.

  8. love these record books! such gems! my kids have a nice record collection too, and a vintage record player by fisher price i think 1976? anyways.. she will be so happy to have these records once she's old enough to appreciate it. and i never thought you looked like an olsen twin until you put your picture next to hers. crazy-awesome!
